Hunting is over for this season!

Hey everyone,

I am so pleased to say that the hunt has ended for this season!!! Nicole, Libby, and the current cove guardians on the ground watched the banger boats take down their banging poles yesterday.

I am so happy to hear that the hunt has ended, though about 900 were killed and many, many more were taken into captivity. These numbers are nowhere near the Taiji dolphin molester’s quota, I’m sure, but it is still too many!

I know we will all be ready to fight even harder this upcoming September. I plan on returning, I know other cove guardians plan to as well, and I’m sure there are a lot of you fundraising to travel to Taiji yourself.

I want to thank everyone who has been so supportive this year and those who called the embassies every single time the boats went out!!! We have a really amazing group of people from all around the world devoted to ending this slaughter, I really hope our voices are heard!

Far Fast and deep,

  1. Hello Elora,
I am so happy to know the dolphin hunt season has finally ended! Following with the early whaling ending, it is due to all Sea Shepherd crews and many cove guardians long-term protesting. Thank you so much for all your much support!! Without you, the world would never know the insane whaling and dolphin hunt. I really appreciate all of your consideration and hard work on behalf of Japanese!!

    1. My understanding from another site there will be permanent SSCS presence in Taiji….hope it was true….

  2. I have to say I am thrilled the dolphin drives are over for now, and the japanese have been driven out of the southern ocean. For all the volunteers, they are wonderful, dedicated people, without whom this would not be possible. But, I have to say I have tremendous respect for Captain Paul Watson, who started this wonderful organization. He is my hero, a great man, full of wisdom, courage and passion beyond comprehension. He is the brave one who leads these voyages into unforgiving waters every year to save our oceans and the beings that live in them. He is more important than any musician, actor, all the celebrated celebrities. He is numero uno in my book, and always will be. The cove guardians, the same goes for all of them, for their bravery, passion, and willingness to fight for the lives of the beautiful dolphins. Thank you all.

  3. Wish new season would never begin!
Thank you Elora for all you’ve done for the dolphins and for being such a good example of what “human being” really means!
    Much love from Cyprus!
